During World AIDS Day, people from all over the world come together to show their support for those affected by HIV/AIDS and to spread awareness about the disease.

Public and private organisations are called by the WHO to work together on this day to raise funds and awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care programmes all over the world. One of the most well-known international health days, it serves as a chance to honour the lives lost for the cause, recognise the progress made toward better care, and rejoice in achievements like the wider availability of preventative measures.

The Setshaba Community Engagement Team (CET), HVTN representatives, other non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and the Soshanguve community all came together on December 1, 2022, to celebrate World AIDS Day under the theme “Reflection. Celebration. Rejuvenation.” The purpose of the gathering was to educate the public about HIV, celebrate scientific achievements, and reflect on what was learned in the effort to completely eliminate the virus.
