“Do what you can with what you have and where you are”

Every year on July 18 the world marks Nelson Mandela International Day – a call to all for bringing change in their actions and inspiring others. It is a remembrance of the first democratically elected President of South Africa and his long years of struggle for justice against apartheid. This year is yet again an occasion to commemorate the legacy of Mandela who taught the world to promote peace and uphold human rights, harmony and dignity for all.

On the said date, the Community Engagement Team on behalf of SRC rose to the occasion and did what they could, with what they had, where they were. SRC donated fifty blankets to four local NGOs that care for orphans and children with disabilities. As the day progressed, inspired by Mandela’s philanthropic vision to cure society’s ills, SRC honoured an invitation from the Adelaide Tambo Clinic to commemorate Mandela Day. SRC educated the community of Hammanskraal on how the use of substances impacts negatively in the participation of clinical trials.
